Our Directors

Jill Medley, Owner

Jill has worked in the field of special education for twenty years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and a Master’s degree in special education/Applied Behavior Analysis from The Ohio State University. She holds a teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education and Early Education of the Handicapped, and is a certified STAT administrator. Her experience includes early intervention, home-based naturalistic ABA, classroom teaching, diagnostics, supervision, management, public speaking, and teaching training/staff development. She is the Executive Director of TLS, currently managing over 100 staff and providing services to 200 students. She is also the mother of two children, Marshall and Macy.

Brynne Artim, M.A, BCBA, COBA – Chief Executive Officer

Brynne Artim graduated from The Ohio State University with degrees in psychology, sociology, and criminology and then graduated from Ball State University with a Master’s degree in applied behavior analysis. She is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), a Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst (COBA) and an active member of Ohio’s Autism Insurance Coalition. Brynne has worked with clinical, school, and home-based programs in order to provide effective, research-based behavioral and educational services to individuals with autism. Brynne previously served as the Senior Director of Clinical Services here at TLS and recently took on her new role as CEO in 2023. In her spare time, Brynne enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her husband, son, and mini bernedoodle.

Shelly Ehmann, Chief Financial Officer

Shelly has worked in the field of education for almost twenty years. She has an Associates Degree from Columbus State Community College in Early Childhood Development a Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in Human Development and Family Science and received her Early Intervention Specialist certification thru the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. She has been with The Learning Spectrum since 2008 and participates in many roles in order to continue the success and development of the children. Shelly took on her new role as CFO in 2023

Mary Salmon , Ph.D, BCBA-D, COBA, CTP-E – Senior Director of Education

Dr. Mary has worked in the field of Special Education for more years than she can count (40 of them if we are counting). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and General Education from Northern Michigan University, a Masters of Education degree in Multi-handicapped Education from the University of Memphis and a doctorate from The Ohio State University. She maintains doctoral certification in Applied Behavior Analysis and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D). She holds teaching licensure in the areas of Early Childhood Special Education, K-12 moderate-intensive and general education K-6.

Dr. Mary began her career as an Intervention Specialist serving students in public school systems and has lived and worked in Iowa, Tennessee, Missouri, Louisiana, Georgia, Washington, Minnesota, Texas and Ohio. Dr. Mary has taught graduate and undergraduate level special education courses at The Ohio State University, mentoring many talented intervention specialists over the years.

Prior to coming to TLS, she was a special education coordinator and REACH Program manager with Columbus City Schools. She is the proud mother of 4 adult children, 3 awesome grandchildren,1 super foster son and Nother–her mastiff puppy. (Nother is in training to be the world’s greatest therapy dog.). In her spare time, she enjoys living on 9 secluded acres in the Hocking Hills, reading, sewing and doing needlework.

Angela DiNovo – Senior Director of Employee Relations

Angela is a certified Early Childhood Intervention Specialist with her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University. She has worked in the field of special education for 15 years. She has been with The Learning Spectrum since its inception in 2005 with different roles such as home-based naturalistic ABA, inclusion settings, classroom teaching, managing and staff development.  She continues her present role at The Learning Spectrum as Director of Employee Relations. Angela is the mother to her three children, Alexander, Mara and Vincent.

Carolee Durrant, M.S. Ed. – Director of Inclusion Services

Carolee Durrant is the director of the inclusion program at TLS.  She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BS in Psychology and MA in education.  She currently holds a license in Pre-k-3 with an endorsement in 4-6.  She also holds a supplemental license in intervention k-12.
Carolee taught kindergarten for 10 years in Tennessee and she also taught 7th grade for 1 year here in Ohio.   She  has worked with students in the inclusion department from preschool all the way through high school for over 10 years. Her goal has always been to help students grow academically and socially within their family’s preferred environment.
Carolee is married and has 4 children, 2 of which have already left the house for college. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, gardening and all things Disney.

Tera McNutt M.A, BCBA, COBA – Director of Clinical Services

Tera McNutt is the Director of Clinical Services overseeing social work, as well as ABA, speech, occupational, and music therapy. She graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor’s degree in speech pathology & audiology, and obtained her Master’s degree in applied behavior analysis from Ball State University. She is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst (COBA). Tera began working at The Learning Spectrum in 2015 and has held a variety of positions within the ABA department before becoming a Director. In her free time, Tera enjoys spending time with her loved ones including her husband, AJ, and dog, Cooper.

Stacie McConnell, M.A. – Director of Education  – North East

Stacie has worked in the early childhood field for almost 20 years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and a Master’s degree in special education (ABA) both from The Ohio State University. She has worked with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorders and other special needs at various inclusive sites for the past 13 years. She holds a teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education and Early Education of the Handicapped. Her experience includes classroom teaching in public and private inclusive settings, home-based naturalistic ABA, supervision of staff and student teachers, assisting in team evaluations and working with  staff to help children when they transition to school age programs. Stacie is a proud mother of two children, Charli and Carson.

Mary Berkey, MA, BCBA, COBA – Director of Staff and Family Development – North East

Mary Berkey is the Director of Staff and Family Development at The Learning Spectrum – North East. She graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, and obtained her Master’s degree in applied behavior analysis from Ball State University. She is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst (COBA). Mary began working at The Learning Spectrum in 2018 and has held a variety of positions within the ABA department before becoming a Director. In her free time, Mary enjoys spending time hiking, vacationing at the beach, and spending time with her loved ones including her husband, Nick and her three fur babies.

Samantha Angelas, MSC, Director of Education – Central

Samantha has worked with the Autism community for 10 years.   She has a Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Psychology and a Master’s degree in School Counseling.   Samantha has served as an independent provider for families using her skills in ABA to work on educational as well as community based skills.  In addition, she worked in the local school district serving students in an inclusion classroom, and used counseling strategies with both students on the spectrum as well as typical, and parents in a situations that arise throughout life.  She also has worked with behavior plans to assess and modify any situation to help benefit the child and the classroom.  She has been actively participating in Positive Behavior Support System, and continuously implementing these ideas into practice. Samantha regularly attends ABA, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and counseling conferences to incorporate a variety of ideas into the students and staff as a whole. She has worked with several small teams to tackle specific targeted behaviors, as well as, assessed what needs are to be met to better the child’s and families experiences. Samantha is the mother to twin boys Georgios and Elias as well as Xander her oldest

Trevor Stewart – Director of Staff and Family Development – Central

Trevor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University. Since 2015, he has worked at The Learning Spectrum, first in the inclusion department then as a behavior float at the Central location. As of 2023, Trevor assumed the role of Director of Staff and Family Development. In addition to being a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), he is also a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) instructor. As part of his leadership development, Trevor also completed the TLS Leader Development Program in 2022-2023. In his free time, Trevor spends time with his wife and three kids and coaches boys soccer at Olentangy Berlin.

Sarah Johnson – MOT, OTR/L – Director of Education – South

Sarah is a board certified and state licensed occupational therapist. Sarah graduated from the Ohio State University with a bachelors of science in biology and went on to attend Chatham University, receiving her master of occupational therapy degree. Before joining the TLS therapy team in 2015, she gained experience working as an ABA therapist with children of various ages. Sarah has received training in the Handwriting Without Tears program and has attended state and national occupational therapy conferences, specifically the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Specialty Conference regarding OT’s distinct value in autism research and practice. Sarah is passionate about challenging each child to reach their full potential daily and strives to celebrate each child’s unique successes.

Brad Tarbutton , M.A.-  Director of Staff and Family Development – South

Brad has worked with adults and children with disabilities in a myriad of roles over the past decade. He has experience in clinical, educational, and home-based settings. He has a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University. Brad completed his undergraduate work in Sociology/Anthropology with a Classics minor at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. He has also spent the last few years coaching high school ice hockey and lacrosse. In his free time Brad enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with his wonderful family.

Our Office Managers

Cassy Justice – South Office Manager

Cassy has been at The Learning Spectrum since 2018, and has worked in special education for 7+ years. Cassy is passionate about learning and working with students on the spectrum. She has an amazing daughter named Scarlett who she loves to spend time with. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, camping and swimming.

Kelly Insinga –Central Office Manager

Kelly joined TLS in 2022 and serves as the Office Manager of the Central – Worthington location. Kelly graduated from Columbus College of Art & Design with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cinematic Arts and minor in Photography. Prior to working at TLS, Kelly worked at The Ohio State University as the Clerical Manager for the Intensive Care Unit. Here at TLS, Kelly is able to use not only her administrative background, but also her passion for creativity!  She is excited to use both passions to infuse creativity and organization into The Learning Spectrum. When Kelly isn’t at work, you can find her cooking/baking for her friends, watching Buckeye football games, or at the movie theater catching the newest blockbuster or Marvel movie.

Theresa Ann Gipson – North East Office Manager

Theresa Ann is a proud new Buckeye, moving here from Nashville, TN. Her studies of Psychology and Nonprofit Leadership took her all around the world to 8 different countries, her fondest memories being of the time she spent in Nicaragua. She has over 7 years of experience in administration and is very excited to hit the ground running at TLS, helping make a difference in our kid’s lives and keeping everything organized. When Theresa Ann is not at work, you can find her at her husband’s jazz shows, hiking with her pup Rita, reading, and doing pretty much anything that gets her creative. 

Stephanie Stewart – Therapy Office Manager

Stephanie graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. Prior to coming to TLS, she worked in the medical field for over 20 years with experience in the Emergency room and Plastic Surgery offices (with a focus on breast cancer and skin cancer patients), where she assisted in surgery to running the office and everything in between. She has an amazing daughter named Kennady whom she loves spending time with along with her three dogs – a German Shepard, a Pitbull and a Doberman. Outside of work she enjoys attending Buckeye football games, taking weekend adventures to new cities, finding new projects to do in her house, and on the rare occasion, just relax.

Speech Therapy

Elizabeth Fonzi, M.A. CCC-SLP – Clinical Therapy Supervisor – Central, Johnstown, Canal Winchester

Liz has been practicing speech-language therapy for 14 years.  She is a licensed speech-language pathologist with the Ohio Board of Speech Language Pathology and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech and Hearing Association.  Liz received her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences from Ohio University and her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Cincinnati.  Liz has been working at TLS Central since April 2018.  Prior to working at TLS, Liz worked as a speech therapist in an outpatient and acute care hospital setting where she worked with both adults and pediatrics for a variety of communication deficits.  She has also had experience working in home health and in a school resource classroom for children with disabilities.  Liz has received training and certification in LAMP (Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning), PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), and Beckman Oral Motor. Liz took on her new role as Clinical Therapy Supervisor in 2022 at The Learning Spectrum

Caroline Morrow M.S. CF-SLP – Speech Language Pathologist – Johnstown

Caroline is a new graduate in her clinical fellowship year being supervised by Liz Fonzi. She is looking forward to making connections with all of the students at TLS and helping them with their communication skills. She received her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Human Development and Family Sciences from The Ohio State University. She then went on to receive her masters degree in Speech Pathology from Northwestern University. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her 2 adorable cats (Beau and Millie) and her family. She enjoys taking workout classes, trying new restaurants, and reading a good book! Caroline is ready to have a great year!

Jillian Rush  M.S. CCC-SLP - Speech Language Pathologist - Central

Jillian is new to TLS as of 2023 and is excited to be a part of the team! Jillian received a masters degree in speech language pathology from the University of Utah in 2021 and a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology from Kent State University in 2019. She works at the Central/Worthington location. In her free time, Jillian enjoys yoga, hiking, and reading!

Casey Tenney  M.A. CCC-SLP - Speech Language Pathologist - South

Casey is a new graduate in her clinical fellowship year being supervised by Liz Fonzi! Casey received her masters degree in speech language pathology from Emerson College in May 2022 and her bachelors degree in speech language pathology from The University of Akron in May 2020. This is Casey's first year at TLS and she is so excited to grow and connect with all of these amazing kiddos. She is currently working at both the Canal and Central location. In her free time she love to play with her dog and watch new movies!

Occupational Therapy

Yumi Chongsiriwatana B.A., MOT, OTR/L - Occupational Therapist - Central, Johnstown

Sam Kehan  COTA/L, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - Central

Sam received his Occupational Therapy License from Marion Technical College in June 2015. Sam has worked in a variety of settings with a wide range of clients in home health, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, and school settings. He is starting his 6th year at TLS. He is passionate about working in the special education field and building meaningful connections with staff and students. In his spare time, he enjoys playing recreational sports, thrift shopping, and DIY projects.

Olivia Long COTA/L – Occupational Therapist - South

Olivia Graduated from Zane State College in 2013 with an associates degree in Occupational therapy and has been Practicing as a COTA since 2013. Olivia has experience with schools, outpatient and skilled therapy. In her free time Olivia enjoys reading, crocheting and spending time with family. Her son is a student at TLS South.

Cassie Keller COTA- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, North East

Cassie is a COTA, excited to be working in a school for the first time!  Cassie received her bachelors and associates degrees at Kent State University.   She has always been interested in occupational therapy and enjoyed watching her little sister grow through OT.  This is Cassie's first year at TLS and she is so excited to see these kids grow and progress towards their goals.  In her free time she enjoys cuddling with her dog and spending time with her husband and family!

Music Therapy

Caroline Woods –MT - BC - Music Therapist - Central, North East

Caroline Smith is a graduate of the University of Dayton where she received a bachelor of music degree in music therapy in 2012. She is also a 2008 graduate of Spelman College, where she received a bachelor of science degree in psychology with a concentration in pre-medical studies. Caroline completed her internship at Helping Hands Center for Special Needs in Columbus. She joined the therapy team in August of 2014 and services all 4 TLS locations. In addition to providing individual and group music therapy services, she also gives adapted lessons in voice, piano, and guitar. She has worked with children on the spectrum for 7 years, and truly enjoys working with them.

Valerie Robinson –MT - BC - Music Therapist - South

Valerie Robinson graduated with a Bachelor's of Music in Music Therapy at Ohio University in 2006.  She completed her internship at Helping Hands Center for Special Needs in Columbus and has worked with the same population ever since.  Valerie currently serves as President of the Association of Ohio Music Therapists and as State Representative to the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association.  She joined the TLS music therapy team in 2018 where she serves clients at the South location.  She truly enjoys all the singing, dancing, playing, and having fun with all the students there!

Adapted Physical Education

Matthew Swaine - Physical Education - Central, North East, South

Matt Swaine is a graduate of Delta State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2016 and a Master of Science in Sport and Human Performance in 2019. He was a member of the Delta State Swimming and Diving Team where he was a four-time NCAA National Qualifier and an All American. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and playing a lot of volleyball. Matt joined the TLS team in 2019 as a paraprofessional and has transitioned into a new role as the Physical Education Teacher.

Our Teacher Mentors

Laura Litavish - Teacher Mentor - Central

Laura has been in the education field for 13 years. She is a licensed Intervention Specialist and also holds a license in Early Childhood Education. She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University and her Master’s degree in Special Education from Slippery Rock University.  Laura has been working at TLS Central since August 2014 and goes to our Johnstown location once a week. She started at TLS as our Pre-Kindergarten teacher and became our Teacher Mentor at our Central and Johnstown locations in August of 2020. Prior to coming to TLS Laura worked as a Preschool teacher and also as a one-on-one therapist for children on the Autism spectrum. She is married to her college sweetheart and they have a two-year-old son named Camden and two golden retrievers. When she is not at TLS she enjoys spending time outside with her family and visiting new places.

Lindsay Harrison - Teacher Mentor - South

Lindsay has been in the field of education for 13 years. She has a k-12 intervention specialist license as well as a Pk-3 license with a reading endorsement. She received her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University majoring in Human Development and Family Science and received licensure from Capital University in 2011. She started her career in Southwestern City School District and transferred to TLS in August of 2014. She started out as a Kindergarten teacher at the central location and then became a teacher mentor in August 2016. She currently mentors teachers at the Canal Winchester branch. She has been married to her husband for 14 years and has three children ages 9, 7, and 4. When she is not at TLS, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, and being outdoors.

Natalie Lindsay - Teacher Mentor - North East

Natalie has worked in the education field for fifteen years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and Child and Family Studies from Ohio University. Natalie’s passion is working with families and students with disabilities as well as at-risk youth. Prior to working at TLS, Natalie has provided home-based intervention as an independent provider, assisted children and families in private as well as public schools and has taught students from preschool through high school in the classroom. As a Family and Student Coordinator, she worked closely with administration and school counselors to assist families while serving on intervention teams. During her time at TLS, Natalie has taught kindergarten at our Johnstown location and now serves as the Education and Behavior Advisor. She is married to her husband of fifteen years and together they have three children ages 11, 7, and 5.

Becky Roslan, MS, BCBA, COBA - Supervising BCBA - Central

Becky has 15 years of experience working with children ranging from infancy to high school. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis. Becky is credentialed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and is a Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst. Being born and raised in New Jersey, Becky is always looking to explore Ohio with her son and her dog.

Ally Taulbee, MA, BCBA - Supervising BCBA - South

Ally is from Reynoldsburg, Ohio and earned her Master’s in Special Education with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from Arizona State University in 2021. She was credentialed a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has worked in the field for 7 years. Ally has experience working in homes, clinics and schools with kiddos from 3-22. She loves being able to engage with her clients and help them gain new skills and independence. Outside of work you can find Ally playing with her daughter, breaking out into song and enjoying all things Disney!

Courtney Brown MA, BCBA, LBA, COBA - Supervising BCBA - North East

Courtney has worked in the Applied Behavior Analysis and special education fields for a decade and has loved every minute of it. For a few years of that work history, she was at TLS as a paraprofessional and an RBT! The knowledge and experience she gained during that time are invaluable to her. In fall of 2019 she married her wonderful husband and moved with him to Alabama. Shortly after, she graduated from Ball State University with her Masters in ABA and became a BCBA in February of 2020. Since then, she has worked in the roles of a behavior analyst consultant for a school district and as a clinical supervisor for early intervention services in the clinic setting. Her focus has been on helping clients develop communication skills and academic readiness skills while simultaneously reducing negative behaviors. Her goal is to help clients be able to communicate their wants and needs and more readily navigate the world around them, while celebrating who they are.  She is excited for her next adventure, moving back to the state she loves and returning to an amazing company!  Some other things she is looking forward to… being closer to family, Ohio State football, Bibibop, Tim Hortons, The Columbus Zoo (especially Zoo Lights in December), walks around Inniswood Gardens, summer movies at The Ohio Theater, and trips up to Lake Erie.

Maintenance & Facilities

Ken Field - Facilities Maintenance Manager

Ken Field joined The Learning Spectrum's team in 2021 as the Facilities Maintenance Manager. Prior to joining TLS, Ken was a Logistics and Safety Analyst for an international retailer for 16 years. He has been a practicing Tradesman on both commercial and residential buildings since graduating from New Miami High School nearly 20 years ago. When Ken is not working on our schools or making repairs for his neighbors, he can likely be found either backpacking the state forests or spending time with his wife and 5 daughters.

 

Marketing & Technology

Ashley Cordek - Marketing Coordinator - Central, North East, South, Learning 4 Life Farm

Ashley Cordek is a graduate of Columbus College of Art & Design where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Cinematic Arts in 2018. She also has worked on several projects promoting companies in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and has won several awards for videos and photography. Ashley enjoys the creative side of things and is excited to oversee social media, design marketing materials, produce media for both print and digital content, maintain our school's website, and much more! Ashley has worked in education for 5 years. She joined our TLS team in 2019 and took on her new role as Marketing Coordinator in 2021.
