Our Mission

“To serve, with excellence, children with autism and related special needs, in their natural environment. To educate the whole child through a multi-disciplinary approach that meets each child’s individual needs and facilitates the highest level of success.”

Naturalistic

At The Learning Spectrum (TLS), we understand that every child learns differently, feels differently, and reacts differently. We adapt our curriculum, intervention, therapies and teaching styles to meet the needs of each individual child, no matter where they are on the autism spectrum.  Our goal is to help each child reach his or her full potential, and live a productive, independent life.

Since our first TLS location opened in 2005, the need for our services has grown exponentially. We are proud to have served hundreds of students with autism and related disorders in our four locations in Central Ohio, and we’ve reached even more through our inclusion therapy services in local private schools throughout the community. Most recently, we have added a Behavior Department and started providing 1:1/ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) as well as Creative Arts and Sibling and Parent Support Groups.

Benefits of TLS

Core Needs

At TLS, our curriculum is centered on the core needs of our students: Self-Management, Language/Learning, and Social Skills. Through a blend of naturalistic programming and applied behavior analysis, we teach our students how to monitor their own behaviors, express their feelings appropriately, and develop relationships with others.

PTO

Our Parent Teacher Organization brings TLS parents together to support our teachers, organize events and fundraisers, and connect with future families.

Parent Support

Led by our licensed social worker, TLS offers parent and peer support in a safe, comfortable environment to share feelings, concerns, frustrations and personal triumphs about what it is like living with ASD.

Our Staff

Our caring and dedicated staff is trained to educate children on the autism spectrum, and to manage a wide range of abilities and behaviors. From therapists to teachers, paraprofessionals to aides, our common goal is to help each child improve their overall life.

Interdisciplinary

In the spirit of true cooperation, our speech, occupational and music therapies work alongside our teachers and aides to offer every angle of care. Together we find the combination of therapies that helps the students reach their speech, motor, communication and academic goals.

Peer Models

Peer models are children in the classroom who model appropriate behaviors and are interested in demonstrating those behaviors to others. Peers help build social skills, and show by example how to share, take turns and console each other.
