The Learning Spectrum strives to support our families and students both in and out of the school setting. We are excited to share two new support services that are being offered to our TLS families and the community.
Home Visits
This new program is designed for TLS students who need help balancing life between home and school.
Marty Harrison, TLS’s Licensed Social Work Assistant, and Niyam Rana, who earned a medical degree in India and a master’s in public health from The Ohio State University, will facilitate the program.
Monthly home visits will be offered to any parent or guardian who has questions about their child’s home-to-school relationship. We’ll offer support with transitions such as:
- behavior issues
- sibling interactions
- bedtime routines
- toilet training
- mealtime challenges
- any other transitions a parent may be struggling with at home
Initially the home visits program will be offered to our early childhood students at our Central location. As the need for services grows, we will make this available to students and families at all of our locations who want assistance with bridging the gap between home and school.
Parent Chat Groups
Parent Chat Groups are a great opportunity for parents of children with autism to listen, learn and share experiences about the world of autism. It’s open to any parent, guardian, grandparent or anyone whose life has been touched by someone with autism. Both TLS families and non-TLS families are welcome.
Parent Chat Groups will be held at the following times:
- Sunbury – Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Central – Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Canal Winchester – Wednesdays from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Peer and sibling support groups are being planned as well.
If you have any questions about the home visits program or the Parent Chat groups, please contact The Learning Spectrum at 614-844-5433.
