Kasia Schmidt has been a speech language pathologist at TLS Central and Inclusion since 2015.

As our speech language pathologist, Kasia provides assessments, diagnoses, and speech, language and communication delay treatments for our students. After an initial assessment, Kasia creates a plan of care documenting therapy goals, and keeps it updated throughout the year. For students served through the school district, the Autism Scholarship Fund or John Peterson, she completes progress notes, present levels and suggests goals for the IEP. Her goal is to help our students communicate their needs and establish and maintain meaningful relationships within their community.

Kasia received her undergraduate degree in speech and hearing science from The Ohio State University, and completed her master’s degree in speech language pathology at Ohio University.

She is a licensed speech language pathologist with the Ohio Board of Speech Language Pathology and the Ohio Department of Education, and she maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech and Hearing Organization. She has received training in LAMP (Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning) and Social Thinking.

Prior to joining the team at TLS, Kasia worked with children in schools and adults in skilled nursing facilities. She completed her externships in Athens City Schools and the Laurels of Norworth. When she completed her clinical fellowship year in an educational placement for children on the autism spectrum, she knew she had found her calling.

In her spare time, Kasia enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband and Mini Goldendoodle.

Thank you, Kasia, for all you do for our students at TLS!
