Sharing and friendship is encouraged as peers models are included in this class. The Learning Spectrum embraces a Naturalistic Applied Behavior Analysis Approach (ABA) in the classroom, incorporating environmental design, the use of visuals, natural consequences, and contrived consequences and reinforcement for children who need this type of structure built into their day. The TLS program uses the Unique Learning System curriculum as well a multi-sensory and multi-disciplinary approach to teaching . The Unique Learning System curriculum is designed to assist in teaching state standard-based lessons. It is differentiated on three levels, to accommodate a diversity of learners. Monthly units focus on science and social studies topics. Each one contains writing, reading, comprehension, vocabulary, and math activities. Students also explore Scholastic News to focus on current real world topics and also engage in sensory play, motor, and therapies such as OT, Speech and music therapy weekly.
