Dear TLS Families,

Currently we plan to open all TLS services and schools as planned on August 20th. All TLS locations will have safety precautions in place including but not limited to:
–  All staff (adults) will wear masks at all times, students are encouraged to wear masks, but not they will not be mandatory.
–  Each site will have entry and exit plans. (Please watch for communication from your individual Site Directors regarding specifics.)
–  Social distancing measures will be in place for staff and will be encouraged with the use of visuals for students.
–  All lunch activities will be in student classrooms for all of September, this will be re-evaluated in October.
–  No field trips or transition skills will take place in the community for the month of September, this will be re-evaluated in October.
–  Students in Kindergarten – 12th Grade will have individualized desks or sit 6 feet apart at tables.
–  No community food services will be available, this includes, but is not limited to, no heating up of food. (There will be no community use of refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, or water coolers for staff or students.) TLS will continue to monitor health department regulations regarding these protocols.
–  TLS will continue to clean and disinfect each site regularly and will be implementing a new policy for cleaning early childhood materials daily.
–  We will implement a “Sick Room” for students who present any COVID-19 symptoms until they can be picked up. If a child leaves school with a fever, they will only be allowed back after 48 hours, symptom free, with no medication. Staff and families of students that have been exposed to an individual with any COVID-19 symptoms will be notified.
–  Playgrounds will be open to one class at a time (no more than 10 students at once). Staff will be responsible for wiping down surfaces such as swings and slides.
–  Indoor motor space: Ball pits will be closed. Some materials such as tricycles and other riding toys will be available and will be cleaned between each classroom use.
–  Short (5 questions) symptom health checklists will be provided to parents to fill out.
– Student and staff temperatures will be taken before entering the building.
Please watch for more information from your individualized school regarding policies on drop off and pick up, visitor policies and any other additional information specific to your site.

The Learning Spectrum thanks you for your patience and support as we work through this situation together.  Again, we will continue to update you as often as we are made aware of any significant changes.
