March 7 was Employee Appreciation Day, but we’re celebrating our team members all month long by sharing their stories. Read more about Theresa Ann Gipson, Lead Office Manager at The Learning Spectrum.
What is your favorite thing about working here?
I love the community our staff and students form throughout the year. Seeing the relationships grow and knowing we are all working toward the same goal of supporting our students makes this such a rewarding place to be.
What keeps you coming to work each day?
The people! The students, families, and my coworkers make every day fulfilling. There’s always something new to learn, a challenge to tackle, or a funny moment that reminds me why I love what I do.
How do you make an impact on students’ lives?
Even though I’m not in the classroom, I strive to be a positive and supportive person for our students. Whether it’s greeting them in the morning, helping them find their way, or simply sharing a laugh during lunch, I want them to feel seen, valued, and encouraged.
Which one of our BetterTogether values resonates with you most personally and why?
Being supportive encompasses everything about my role. I love that I get to support our families and teachers, making their days a little easier so they can focus on what matters most: helping our students thrive.
What does a “day in the life” look like for your role?
A lot of behind-the-scenes administrative tasks! I spend a lot of time maintaining student data, assisting with billing, and making sure everything runs smoothly. But the best part of my day? Hanging out with the middle schoolers during lunch and getting to know them!
Can you talk a little bit about your career trajectory and what led you to where you are now?
I have always worked in administrative roles but was looking for a job where I could use my skills while making a meaningful impact. I mentioned to Kelly Insinga, our Office Manager at Central, that I wanted a job like hers, and just a few weeks later, this role became available! It felt like the perfect fit, and I couldn’t be happier with where I landed.
What has been your proudest moment or accomplishment in your role?
I’ve had several parents ask if I sub in their child’s classroom because they talk about me at home, and it truly warms my heart. It’s a reminder that even small interactions, like a smile, a short conversation, or a quick check-in, can have an impact.
What is something about you that not many people know?
My husband and I run a non-profit called The Ambry Library! We create after-school programs and events to bring music and arts education to students all over Central Ohio. It’s something we’re incredibly passionate about, and I love being able to help foster creativity in young minds.
