Inclusion Intervention Specialist Job Description

The Learning Spectrum Inclusion department is seeking an Intervention Specialist in our Inclusion department to serve students on Autism Spectrum in general education classrooms in private schools. We have a unique position available for an IS who is motivated and independent.

The Inclusion Intervention Specialist is expected to: 

The job description listed below is for the role of intervention specialist. In fulfilling these responsibilities, this individual will model behavior that supports the TLS mission of “to serve with excellence, children with autism and related special needs, in their natural environment. To educate the whole child through a multidisciplinary approach that meets each child’s individual needs and facilitates the highest level of success”.

The intervention specialist is expected to:

    • Work with students in a private school setting with mild to moderate developmental disabilities in order to provide educational, behavioral and social emotional support.
    • Participate as a member of students teams along with the classroom teacher, paraprofessional, families and other support staff.
    • Completes student assessments in order to evaluate students’ level of performance, by both formal and informal methods, in order to determine needs and collect information for Individual Educational Plans.
    • Help develop IEP goals and implement and modify them when appropriate.
    • Communicates with family and team in a calm, supportive manner about student success and any changes or needs on a consistent basis
    • Prepares and maintains records on students goals, data sheets,
      communication
    • Provides consultation services to families, classroom teachers and other support staff to ensure comprehension of students goals, accommodations and how to promote generalization at home and when TLS is not present.
    • Reports to supervisors and director of inclusion
    • Participates in training programs, reads professional literature and attends seminars, workshops or academic classes in order to maintain professional license and attends required inclusion meetings quarterly.
    •  Follow each schools’ procedures and policies ie. sign in policy, dress code
    • Independently maintain professional licensure and make sure license remains current
    • Completes a background check when hired and when expired.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay: $48,000 – $50,000

Full-time during the school year months

8 hour shift Monday to Friday

Education:

Bachelor’s (Preferred)

Experience:

Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification: Teaching Certification (Required)
