Inclusion Aide Job Description

In fulfilling these responsibilities, this individual will model behavior that supports  TLS mission of “to serve, with excellence, children with autism and related  special needs, in their natural environment. To educate the whole child through a  multi-disciplinary approach that meets each child’s individual needs and  facilitates the highest level of success”. 

The inclusion aide is expected to: 

  • Assists students 1:1 and/or in small groups 
  • Creates an environment which is conducive to learning for the student  during 1:1 time 
  • Implements the lessons and activities provided by the lead teacher
  • Interacts and communicates with lead teachers and therapists and other staff working with classroom students 
  • Assists with data recording, written records and reports as required on, but  not limited to:
    • student attendance
    • assessments
    • program objectives
    • progress data for regular evaluations and for revision of Individual  Educational Plans 
  • Participates in and/or provides staff training programs
  • reads professional  literature and attends seminars, academic classes or workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills in areas such as, but not  limited to:
    • behavior modification
    • systematic training
    • counseling
    • normalization
    • instruction and/or curriculum development
    • attends and  participates in staff meetings to obtain and provide information
    • Serves as the chief source of information between school and parents
  • Communicate with parents as often as suggested by the supervisor
  • Follows the policies and procedures set for the schools they visit
  • Maintains educator aid permit or other licensure and/or requirements up to date 

Completes a background check upon hire and when expired

Performs other related duties as assigned 

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent 

This position requires the ability to lift materials as well as children,  bending or standing for extended periods of time as necessary, sitting on  small chairs and the floor at times 

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between sites 

Pay: $18 – $20 an hour

Job Type:

Full-time or part-time during the school year months

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Columbus, OH: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education: High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

Special education: 1 year (Required)
