Behavior 1:1 Support Job Description

In fulfilling these responsibilities, this individual will model behavior that supports TLS mission of “to serve, with excellence, children with autism and related special needs, in their natural environment. To educate the whole child through a multi-disciplinary approach that meets each child’s individual needs and facilitates the highest level of success”.

The employee can expect to…

  • Collaborate with the child’s team regarding behavior plans for students.
  •  Implements behavioral support plans for assigned students.
  • Assists students with the daily schedule in the classroom and daily activities along with classmates.
  • Help students with sensory needs and/or breaks when needed.
  • Provide students with rewards/motivators, times, visuals, and anything else to make their day successful.
  • Follow the teacher’s activities.
  • Interact effectively with co-workers and students.
  •  Attend staff meetings.
  • Collect IEP and/or behavior data as outlined by the child’s team
  • Actively participate with other students in the classroom when assigned student is independently engaged or absent.
  • Check in with site director for daily duties when assigned student is absent
  • Be present at work in order to provide consistency of services.
  • Arrive to work on time; punctually attend and actively participate in all required activities, meetings, and trainings.
  • Be a respectful, cooperative, and reliable team member and participant in program activities.
  • Project a professional work image, both in dress and manner.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with employment policies and performance standards.
  • Commitment to mission and values in the performance of daily duties
  • Assist classroom teacher to assist as a paraprofessional when staff are out if needed.
  • Participates in weekly classroom jobs (i.e., take trash out, clean up room, etc.)
  • At times, may need to help to make visuals/materials for teachers.
  • Go on field trips, as needed, for extra support.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma. 4-year degree in related field preferred
  • Current aid license and background checks
  •  Training in CPI
  • The ability to establish positive relationships with co-workers and parents and students.
  •  Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be able to handle emotionally charged situations.
  • Has the ability to train other people to apply behavior management techniques effectively.

Physical Demands:

  • Must have the physical ability to intervene with students’ physical behaviors.
  • Must have the ability to transport and physically support students needed for safety purposes.

Pay: $17 – $18 an hour

Job Type:

Full-time or part-time during the school year months

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Education: High school or equivalent (Required)
