Early detection and treatment of
autism and other developmental disorders are key to rewiring the young
brain. The numbers of children diagnosed with autism has tripled in Ohio
during the past five years, according to the Ohio Department of Education.
However, these numbers do not even count children not in school yet. The
most recent research suggests that autism can be detected by the time
children are one year of age. Although many pediatricians tend to wait until
children are between two and three years of age to refer families to
specialists for diagnosis, parents often recognize signs and symptoms much
earlier.
The Learning Spectrum is prepared
to provide your family with a comprehensive screening that will give you the
answers to many of your questions regarding your child's development. The
screening includes a consultation with parents and complete background
history, a play-based screening with your child, and a comprehensive report
with results and recommendations. We will work with you to see your family
as quickly as possible, as we realize the importance of early detection and
treatment.
